Two Durham heroes save lives of two men in distress

It took three years, but two Durham heroes did get the recognition and honour they richly deserve for saving the life of a man in medical distress.

Yesterday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division, said two members of its community were presented with the Commissioner’s Citation for Lifesaving Award.

Inspector Jennifer Neamtz of the Toronto Whitby OPP presented the Commissioner’s Citation for Lifesaving Award to Aditya and Keith.

In July 2021, Aditya rescued an individual who was struggling to swim at Sauble Beach. The person was in medical distress, OPP said.

It said in October 2021, Keith as an off-duty paramedic, was driving on Highway 115 in Clarington when he observed an individual in medical distress. Keith pulled over and provided the individual with medical assistance.

“Thank you, Aditya and Keith, for your incredible life-saving efforts that have made such a positive impact on our community; your dedication and compassion truly make a difference,” OPP said.
