Durham homeless celebrate at The HUB

Last Tuesday, VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) helped unsheltered residents in the Region of Durham celebrate the holidays at the The HUB at the Ajax Community Centre.

The HUB is an initiative that VHA is leading in collaboration with the Town of Ajax and Region of Durham with support from community partners at various locations. On-site services include shower and washroom facilities, food, clothing, counselling, and connection to other services.

The program has been a key point of contact for homeless individuals seeking shelter and support amid Covid-19 since the program’s launch in Spring 2020 at the Ajax Community Centre. The program has since been expanded to locations in Ajax, Oshawa and Cannington, Ont.

Thanks to a donation of meals supplied by Durham Catering Services and warm items supplied by VHA, residents were able to enjoy these supports in addition to the usual services during their visit.
