It’s a White Christmas after all.

But, Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning in effect for Southern Durham Region.

It also warned of power outages due to accumulation of ice.

Environment Canada warned of several hours of freezing rain last night with ice accretion of up to 5 mm.

It said local power outages may be possible due to ice build up.

It also warned of poor road conditions due to ice accumulation.

“Freezing rain will change over to light snow or flurries Friday morning. No significant snow accumulation is expected. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Utility outages may occur,” it said.
