Kidnapping complaint leads to arrests

Durham Police said two male suspects from Oshawa are facing numerous charges after a robbery investigation resulted in the seizure of $24,000 in drugs.

On December 19, a 21-year-old male victim contacted Central East Division officers and advised that he was forcibly confined, assaulted and robbed of his personal property at a residence in Oshawa by the two suspects.

Investigators from the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify the suspects and arrested them leaving a residence on Nonquon Road in Oshawa.

They were found to be in possession of cocaine, which was seized. Investigator later executed a search warrant at the residence and seized cannabis, cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, crystal meth and LSD pills, with an approximate street value of $24,000, said a police statement.

Shayne Valinsky, age 42, of Nonquon Road in Oshawa, is charged with robbery and drug trafficking-related offences including: Robbery; Forcible Confinement; Weapons Dangerous; Uttering Threats; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x7 and Possess Cannabis for the Purpose of Distribution. He was held for a bail hearing.

Jeremy Severin, age 39, of Nonquon Road in Oshawa, is charged with Robbery and Breach Probation. He was released on an Undertaking.
