Durham Police name Pickering shooting’s teen victim

Durham Police investigators have released the name of the victim in Durham Region’s seventh homicide of 2023.

On Sunday June 18 at about 9:40 pm, members from West Division responded to a housing complex at 1580 Kingston Road in Pickering after receiving reports of a shooting.

Officers arrived on scene and located one male who had been shot. Officers and paramedics performed life-saving measures; however, the male died at the scene.

The victim has been identified as a 17-year-old male, Anthony Dixon, police said.

There is no suspect information currently available; however, at this time this appears to be an isolated incident and police believe there to be no threat to public safety, said a police statement.

Police are encouraging anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam and home surveillance, to contact police.
