Exchange Oshawa’s parking ticket: Donate a toy for the fine

The City of Oshawa’s Toys for Tickets program has returned for the holiday season.

Motorists who receive a parking ticket under $100 between November 19 and December 3 (inclusive) will have the opportunity to provide a new toy in lieu of payment, the city said.

Residents wishing to participate in the program can pay their eligible parking ticket from December 2 to 4, online at Oshawa.ca/PayTicket. All eligible online payments received during this time will be used to purchase toys.

Additionally, during business hours on December 2, 3 and 4, Service Oshawa will accept new unwrapped toys (accompanied by a cash register receipt indicating the value of the toy) in lieu of payment. Toys will be accepted for children aged newborn to the age of 18 and the value of the toy must equal or exceed the amount owing on the parking ticket.

Service Oshawa, located on the first floor of City Hall at 50 Centre Street South, will be open December 2 – 4 from 8 am to 6 pm, to accept toy donations.

All contributions will go to the Durham Regional Police Services Food and Toy Drive, delivering toys to families in need this winter.
