Free on-street parking returns to downtown Oshawa

The City of Oshawa yesterday announced that it is offering free on-street parking in the downtown starting at noon daily from Monday, December 12 up to and including Friday, December 30.

Parking will be free all day on December 25, 26 and January 1 due to statutory holidays, said a city statement.

Fees for off-street parking still apply between 8 am until noon, Monday through Friday. On-street parking will continue to be free after 6 pm during the week and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.

Return of free on-street parking is to support small and family-owned businesses in downtown Oshawa during the holiday rush.

Reminders:

  • Paid parking will still be required for off-street municipal parking lots and parkades.
  • On-street parking is not permitted on Oshawa streets between the hours of 2 am and 6 am, from December 1 to April 1.
  • In addition to the 2 am to 6 am winter seasonal parking regulations, vehicles parked on Oshawa streets at any time while salting/snow clearing is underway may be ticketed and/or towed.
