Meet on reconstruction of three Bowmanville streets

The Municipality of Clarington said it is looking for public feedback before work begins to reconstruct Brown Street, Albert Street and Victoria Street in Bowmanville in 2023.

As part of the reconstruction project, Clarington will also be working with the Region of Durham to replace the watermain that has reached the end of its service life, said a statement.

The proposed work is expected to take place mid-2023 and will impact the following streets:

  • Brown Street, between Victoria Street and Queen Street (approximately 300 metres)
  • Albert Street, between Brown Street and Liberty Street (approximately 155 metres)
  • Victoria Street, between Ontario Street and Liberty Street (approximately 95 metres)

The work includes:

  • Reconstruction of Brown Street, from Queen Street to Victoria Street, including storm sewer installation, watermain removal and replacement, removal and reinstatement of the road base, installation of curbs, streetlighting improvements and driveway apron / general area restoration.
  • Reconstruction of Victoria Street, from Ontario Street to Liberty Street, including storm sewer installation, watermain removal and replacement, removal and reinstatement of the road base, installation of curbs, streetlighting improvements and driveway apron / general area restoration.
  • Reconstruction of Albert Street from Brown Street to Liberty Street, including removal and reinstatement of road base, installation of curbs and sidewalk, streetlighting improvements and driveway apron / general area restoration.

The Brown Street Reconstruction Public Information Centre (PIC) will include a virtual presentation that provides background information and reviews the future needs, opportunities, constraints, and proposed design improvements for the area, as well as an opportunity to ask questions. A recording of the presentation will be available for viewing on the project web page on December 9, 2022. Feedback from the PIC will be used to finalize the design before construction begins.
