Future of Albert Street wood bridge has been decided

The future of Albert Street Bridge in Oshawa has been decided, according to city councillor Brian Nicholson.

“I have received many inquiries regarding the future of the Albert Street wooden bridge currently closed,” said Nicholson in a post on social media.

“After inquiries, it has been confirmed that the bridge will be taken down as part of the GO Train Expansion project and that [neither] Metrolinx nor CP Rail have any plans to replace the bridge with a new construction,” he said.

For those who loved the history of the bridge, this will be sad news indeed, he added.

Nicholson pointed out that as a result of this decision, Albert Street will no longer run from Bloor Street to King Street East, but will be segmented by the rail line.
