Gimme a break, asks BMW driver after repeat violations

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) probably has the most fun listening to innovative pleas, excuses and requests from erring drivers.

Officers from the DRPS Central East Division yesterday said some drivers don’t understand speed limits and ask for a “break”.

But when you stop the same driver (top image) four times in 18 months for speeding in the same spot… the “breaks” aren’t happening.

“Please slow down and pay attention no matter how smooth your car is,” the police advised.

$5,000 for no insurance

Meanwhile, East Division officers reminded motorists that first offence for driving without insurance is $5,000. Yiiiiikes!😬.

A driver was stopped (image below) on Regional Road 20 and Woodley Road in Clarington.

Originally, the motorist was stopped for speeding 111kmh in a posted 80kmh zone. Further investigation revealed that this driver/owner was driving without insurance, police said.

Heavy tint, loud muffler
