Oshawa schedules Kars on King, loses Autofest Nationals

The City of Oshawa yesterday announced that it will not be hosting Autofest Nationals this year.

Motor City Car Club, the organizer, has not yet announced the new venue for 2004 on its website, which says: “Watch for updates!”

“Although we are disappointed to learn that Oshawa will not be home to Autofest in 2024, we thank the Motor City Car Club and wish them a successful 2024 event at this year’s location in Durham Region,” said a city statement.

It pointed out that Oshawa has been proud to be the host city of Autofest Nationals for 30 years. “Recognizing this as one of our signature community events, the City of Oshawa has made significant contributions to the growth and success of this annual car show with more than $270,000 of in-kind support provided since 2014.”

Kars on King

The city announced that Kars on King will return on Friday, August 23, 2024 and will bring with it enhanced entertainment as part of the 100th Anniversary line-up of signature events.

More than 400 classic vehicles in various makes and models will line downtown Oshawa streets along with live entertainment, community attractions and a family zone with inflatables. This premier event – identified as part of the centennial year celebrations – attracts visitors, car enthusiasts and classic car owners from across the GTA, Ontario and beyond, the city said.
