Woman dead, several including child, hurt in horrific crash

Durham Police today said a 32-year-old female is deceased after a serious collision in Uxbridge.

On Monday January 29 at about 2:05 pm, officers from North Division responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Concession Road 6 and Sandford Road in Uxbridge.

A white Cadillac SUV was westbound on Sandford Road when it collided with a white Subaru SUV which was northbound Concession Road 6.

Four occupants of the Subaru were transported to a local area hospital where the driver remains in serious condition. A 32-year-old female passenger in the Subaru succumbed to her injuries while at the hospital, and a 29-year-old female passenger and a 1-year-old male passenger were later transported to Toronto area trauma centres with life threatening injuries. They remain in hospital in serious condition, police said.

The driver and the passenger of the Cadillac were transported to a Newmarket area hospital where they remain with serious injuries.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

One person died and five others were injured in an horrific crash yesterday, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

Some of the injured were reported by police to be in a life-threatening situation. One child was also hurt.

The collision took place in Uxbridge.

“The roadways in the area remain closed at this time. One person has been pronounced deceased. Five others, including a child, have been taken to hospital with injuries ranging from non-life threatening to life-threatening. Further information to follow,” said a police alert.

DRPS closed off the intersection of Sandford Road and Regulation Road 1 in Uxbridge, where the motor vehicle collision reportedly took place. Please avoid the area, police said last evening.

It is understood the services of air ambulance Ornge were required to transport the injured to hospital.

No further details were available till late last night.
