Have fun helping grow Oshawa’s urban forest

Oshawa is inviting members of the public to join Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests (LEAF) for a Community Tree Planting.

The event will take place on Sunday, October 23 from 1 pm to 3 pm at Russett Park (1290 Somerville Street) in Oshawa.

Participants must register in advance by midnight Thursday, October 20. There are no day-of/walk-in sign ups. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

The city urged participants to:

  • dress appropriately – the event runs rain or shine
  • wear closed-toe shoes or boots – no sandals
  • bring gardening gloves, if you have them (some extras may be available on site)
  • bring multiple filled water bottles – there will be no water refill station on site

This event will involve walking on unpaved paths and uneven grassy surfaces. For accessibility questions, please contact sarah@yourleaf.org.

The Community Tree Planting is held in partnership with the City of Oshawa and is supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Ontario Power Generation.
