Helmet-less biker with head injuries from crash, out of danger

Durham Police said a male suffered serious injuries following a single motorcycle collision in Ajax.

On Wednesday, September 18 at about 3:55 pm, members from West Division responded to a collision in the area of Bayly Street West and Monarch Avenue.

A 26-year-old male, operating a blue Yamaha dirt bike, lost control in a parking lot and was ejected from the bike. The driver, who was not wearing a helmet, struck his head and was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious life-threatening injuries, said a police report.

The driver’s condition has since been upgraded to serious but non-life-threatening.

A portion of the parking lot was closed, as members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation.
