Home Sweet Home fest brings family fun to Whitby today

Whitby’s inaugural Home Sweet Home Festival is set to bring excitement to Downtown Whitby today, offering residents and visitors a day of community celebration, local culture, and family-friendly activities.

According to the Town of Whitby, the event will run from 10 am to 4 pm, transforming the downtown into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly hub. The festival aims to showcase what makes Whitby a great place to live, work, and explore — through food, art, entertainment, and history.

Festival-goers can look forward to:

  • Live entertainment and cultural performances
  • An Artisan Marketplace and the Whitby Farmers’ Market
  • Historic walking tours and Lynde House Museum activities
  • Outdoor patios and specials from Downtown Whitby BIA businesses
  • A family zone featuring a 300-foot zipline
  • And more

To help people get to and around the festival easily, Whitby is offering a free shuttle service from the Henry Street lot south of the Whitby GO Station to the Whitby Public Library. The shuttle will run every 10 minutes between 9:50 am and 4:20 pm. A festival trolley and trackless train will also be available for hopping on and off at key locations throughout the event.

To ensure a safe and walkable experience, road closures and parking restrictions will be in place from 6 am to 6 pm on event day. A map with the full details is available on the town’s website.
