Human Trafficking: Police worry there may be more victims

A woman was rescued from her abuser and pimp who was trafficking her. Police have arrested and charged the man they believe responsible.

Members of the DRPS Human Trafficking Unit began an investigation this year into a man after it was reported that he had been trafficking a female victim in the sex trade.

Further investigation revealed the suspect had facilitated the victim’s work in the sex trade, assaulted her, and controlled her finances.

On Thursday, July 2, investigators concluded their investigation and took the suspect into custody without incident.

Police have concerns there may be further victims. A photo of the accused can be viewed at www.drps.ca.

The 26-year old from Pickering was held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Human Trafficking Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5600.
