The driver of the car in which two teens suffered injuries when the car went off the road and caught fire in Whitby, has been charged.
The teen is facing charges of dangerous operation and stunt driving. following a collision investigation. He was freed on an undertaking.
The 16-year-old had suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was airlifted by Air ORNG to a Toronto-area trauma centre. His condition has since been upgraded to stable.
The 17-year-old passenger was transported to a local-area hospital with minor injuries.
On Thursday, June 11, around 8:30 pm, members of North Division responded to a single vehicle collision on Duffs Road south of Townline Road West.
An Audi sedan was travelling northbound on Duffs Road when it lost control, went off the roadway, and caught fire. Officers arrived on scene and located two occupants suffering from injuries.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
Following the investigation, members of the Collision Investigation Unit arrested the driver of the Audi and laid charges.
