Two-and-a-half years of traffic woes on Courtice road

The Region of Durham is advising residents of upcoming construction on Trulls Road in the community of Courtice in the Municipality of Clarington.

There will be lane restrictions and multiple road closures on Trulls Road from July 6 to December 31, 2028. The region said unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Lane restrictions will be from 100 metres south of Bloor Street (Regional Road 22) to Adelaide Avenue (Regional Road 58), in the Municipality of Clarington. Multiple road closures will also be required throughout the duration of this project. Detour routes will be posted.

The region said businesses in the area will remain open during construction.

It said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.

Two-month closure of Clarington road

The Region of Durham has announced a two-month closure of Regional Road 3 in the Municipality of Clarington.

A notice said the road will be closed from July 2nd to August 28th. However, the full road reconstruction will take a year.

Regional Road 3 from east of Townline Road (Regional Road 55) to west of Enfield Road (Regional Road 34), in the Municipality of Clarington will be closed. Detour routes will be in place, said the region.

The project includes, but is not limited to road shoulder widening, improvements to the intersection at Langmaid Road, road pavement rehabilitation, construction of a partial paved shoulder, ditch drainage improvements, culvert replacements as required, road grade adjustments, tree removal and/or tree trimming where required.

The construction is expected to finish by June 30, 2027, depending on weather conditions. Construction activities will shut down during the winter period from December 1, 2026 until May 1, 2027.

Residents should expect traffic delays and are asked to exercise additional caution for the safety of construction workers. Access to driveways will be maintained whenever possible.
