To mark Canada Day events on July 1, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) will conduct flybys at several locations across the country including Durham.
If you’re looking for a flyby close to you, one will be occurring in Oshawa with CH-146 Griffon helicopter, according to a statement from Canadian Armed Forces. It did not mention the timing of the flyby(s).
The CH-146 Griffon utility tactical-transport helicopter supports the tactical transportation of troops and materiel as well as search and rescue operations, surveillance and reconnaissance, training, casualty evacuations and counter-drug operations.
The aircraft will fly at a minimum altitude of 500 feet above the highest obstacle along their flight path.
Flybys conducted by RCAF aircraft are carefully planned and closely controlled for public safety and are dependent upon weather and flying conditions, said the statement.
Oshawa will also be hosting a annual Canada Day Celebration at Lakeview Park with the following road and lane restrictions.
