The Regional Municipality of Durham is reminding residents that nominations for the position of Regional Chair will be accepted until Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2 pm (also known as nomination day).
When: The Regional Clerk is now receiving nominations for the Regional Chair position. Nomination papers may be obtained and filed in the Office of the Regional Clerk until August 18, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, by appointment, and on August 19 between 9 am and 2 pm.
Where: Nominations must be filed in the Office of the Regional Clerk, located at Regional Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby, or may be submitted electronically, and must be accompanied by a $200 filing fee.
How: Candidates who wish to submit their nomination papers in person can contact clerks@durham.ca to make an appointment with the Election Team. Candidates who wish to submit their nomination papers electronically can contact elections@durham.ca to receive instructions for electronic submission. Important: Do not submit your nomination papers through email.
Why: Every person who wishes to be a candidate for Regional Chair must file their nomination papers with the Regional Clerk, as outlined in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
