Impaired driver boxed in by cruisers, forced to stop

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers have taken another impaired driver off the streets in yesterday early morning hours.

On Tuesday at about 3:20 am, officer from the DRPS East Division were dispatched to an impaired driver call at Taunton Road and Langmaid Road after a resident reported a white car all over the road.

Officers found the car, but the driver refused to stop.  Officers had to box him in to stop him. He was arrested and brought in for breath samples.

The 54-year old man from Ajax has been charged with impaired operation. His car has been impounded and his licence suspended for 90 days.

There were no injuries.
