Impaired driver found with fake gun, real knife and drugs

Durham Police said a quantity of drugs and weapons have been seized after a male was arrested for impaired driving in Whitby.

On Sunday, October 6, at about 2:40 am, members of Central West Division on proactive patrol initiated a traffic stop in the area of Brock Street South and Arthur Street.

While speaking to the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. The driver was taken into custody for impaired operation without incident. During a search of the vehicle a replica firearm, a prohibited spring-loaded knife, and a quantity of drugs were seized (see image below).

The man, age 30 from Ajax was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Traffic stop leads to gun arrest in Oshawa

A male and female are facing charges after a firearm was located in their vehicle during a traffic stop in Oshawa.

On Saturday, October 5, at about 3:40 am, members of Central West Division on proactive patrol initiated a traffic stop in the area of Thornton Road North and King Street West.

While speaking with the vehicle occupants, officers observed cannabis. The vehicle was searched under the Cannabis Control Act, and officers located a firearm near the front passenger seat (see images below and top). The driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident.

A male, age 44 from Oshawa and a female, age 32 from Ajax were charged and both were held for a bail hearing. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
