Meet on new 25-storey tower with 408 apartments today

A public meeting is scheduled for today (October 7) on the proposed 25-storey tower with 408 apartments to be located on Charles Street in Oshawa.

The applicant is A.J. Clarke and Associates Ltd. on behalf of 2856355 Ontario Inc. for lands at 13, 15 and 29 Charles Street.

They propose to redevelop the site for a new 25-storey mixed-use building containing 408 apartment units and 3,323m² of commercial floor space, said a city notice.

The purpose of their applications is to:

  • Amend the Oshawa Official Plan to add a site specific policy to permit the proposed residential density of 2,216 units per hectare; and,
  • Amend Zoning By-law 60-94 by rezoning the lands from PSC-A (Planned Strip Commercial) and R3-A/R6-C/SO-C(1) (Residential/Specialized Office) to an appropriate site specific CBD-B (Central Business District) Zone, to implement the proposed development with site specific conditions to permit certain performance standards such as, but not necessarily limited to, increased residential density, building height and gross floor area of retail store floor space, and reduced parking and building setbacks to street lines above 12m in height.

The Planning Act public meeting will be held today (October 7) at 6:30 pm in the Council Chamber of Oshawa City Hall at 50 Centre Street South.

The Oshawa Economic and Development Services Committee will be considering the above referenced applications for the lands as shown shaded on the map (below) at the public meeting. The applications have been determined to be complete.
