Impaired parolee passed out at wheel, awakes, rolls, strikes cruiser

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said a male found sleeping at the wheel of his vehicle is now facing impaired driving charges in Ajax.

On Monday, October 30 at about 2 am, officers from DRPS West Division found a man who was passed out at the wheel of his vehicle near Audley Road North and Rossland Road.

An officer knocked on the vehicle window at which time the driver rolled the car forward striking the police car.

Further investigation revealed the man was not only impaired, but was currently out on parole.

The 34-year old was charged and held for a bail hearing.
