Man flees police in a stolen vehicle… straight into a ditch

A man fled from Durham Police in Clarington on Monday in a car and on foot, but with the help of K9 Unit was arrested, charged and held for a bail hearing.

On October 30 at about 1:45 am, officers from the East Division were on general patrol when they attempted to stop a suspected impaired driver in the area of Trulls Road and Pebblestone Road in Clarington.

The suspect driver attempted to evade the police and subsequently crashed the vehicle into a ditch before fleeing on foot, police said.

With the assistance of the K9 Unit, the driver was found and arrested. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen.

A 20-year old from Ajax was charged and held for a bail hearing, police said.
