Bucking the old saying, DRPS Traffic Services proved it was third time unlucky for the above driver.
This driver was stopped for the third time this year for speeding, this time 110/60, said the police.
It said stunt driving charges were laid.
“Please slow down, and be careful,” it added.
Stop for police
Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said if you see lights and hear sirens from any emergency vehicles, please safely come to a complete stop at the right of the roadway.
Earlier this month, officers of the DRPS Central East Division responded to reports of an impaired driver.
Police located the suspect’s vehicle and initiated a stop. However, the vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated, police said.
Police followed the vehicle onto Highway 401, and were able to block the vehicle forcing it to come to a stop.
The driver, a 35-year old from East York, was assessed and deemed not impaired.
He said he did not know he was being stopped, and did not think the police vehicles with lights and sirens activated were emergency vehicles.
He was charged, police said.
