Impaired sleeping couple in car awaken to drug arrest

A 45-year old male and a 38-year old female are in custody after an impaired investigation revealed hidden drugs in a motor vehicle.

On Wednesday, October 4 at around 10:55 am, members of East Division responded to reports of a male and female possibly impaired and asleep in a vehicle in the area of Clarington Boulevard and Stevens Road in Clarington.

Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. When officers approached they observed drug paraphernalia in the motor vehicle. Upon further investigation a large quantity of numerous drugs, and a prohibited weapon were located and seized. Both parties were taken into custody without incident, said a police statement.

The male, with No Fixed Address and the female from Bancroft were charged and held for a bail hearing. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
