York swat called in again… for drugs raid in Durham

Durham Police yesterday said two are in custody after drug investigation results in firearms and drugs being seized.

On Friday, October 6 at about 12:30 am, members of the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the York Regional Police Tactical Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Liberty Street South and Baseline Road in Clarington.

This is the second time in the week, York Regional Police Tactical Support Unit, has been involved in a raid in Durham (see below). Durham Region Police Service (DRPS) has its own tactical unit too, but no explanation was offered why York police were involved.

A DRPS statement said inside the residence police located numerous drugs and a firearm.

A traffic stop in the area of Trulls Road and Highway 2 in Clarington was also initiated in relation to the search warrant. A male in the vehicle was found in possession of numerous drugs and a firearm.

A male and female from Bowmanville, were taken into custody without incident. Both were charged and held for a bail hearing. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.

DRPS Tactical Unit assists in Oshawa drug raid

A male and female are facing drug trafficking charges after search warrants were conducted at two residences in Oshawa.

On September 14, members of the Central East Division Community Response Team, with the assistance of the DRPS Tactical Support Unit and the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit, executed search warrants at addresses in the area of Fourth Avenue and Bloor Street East and Beatty Avenue and Ritson Road South in Oshawa. A quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia were located and seized.

Both parties from Oshawa, were charged and held for a bail hearing. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
