High-risk traffic stop nabs two for pointing fake gun

Durham Police said a male and female have been charged after pointing a firearm and making threats toward two males in Oshawa.

On Thursday, October 5 at around 1:20 pm, members of Central West Division responded to reports of an armed person in the area of Simcoe Street North and Conlin Road in Oshawa.

The victims reported that a male had pointed a firearm at them and made threats to kill them. The male suspect fled the scene in a white Toyota prior to police arrival, said a police statement.

Police located the vehicle a short distance away and initiated a high-risk traffic stop. A male and female were taken into custody without incident. A replica firearm was located in the female’s purse.

The victims did not suffer any physical injuries.

The 19-year old male from Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing. The 18-year old female from Pickering was charged and released on an undertaking. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
