Gang Unit hauls in two suspects, loaded firearm and drugs

Durham Police officers have arrested two suspects after seizing a loaded firearm and drugs following an investigation in Whitby.

On October 27 members of the DRPS Gun and Gang Unit concluded a firearm and drug trafficking investigation. They made two arrests and executed search warrants at two residences, one in Whitby and the other in Toronto, said a police statement.

As a result of the investigation, police seized fentanyl, cocaine, Canadian currency and a loaded handgun. Street value of seized drugs and cash is approximately $24,000.

Kacy Hibbert, age 44, of Invergordon Avenue in Toronto, has been charged with: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2 (cocaine, fentanyl), Possession Contrary to Order; Possession of a Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm; Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Not Holding Licence and Unlicensed Person Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon. He was held for a bail hearing.

Melissa Hern, age 51, of Main Street in Clarington, has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking(cocaine). She was released on an undertaking.
