Woman driving car on its ‘rim’ fails to stop for police

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said officers from the West Division tried to stop a woman who was driving her vehicle on its rim in Pickering.

Officers observed a Nissan Murano northbound on Brock Road driving on its rim. The driver failed to stop and was eventually stopped by police vehicles. The 23-year-old driver from Whitby was arrested. She is a G1 licence holder, said the police.

They said the incident occurred on October 27 at around 2:20 am on Brock Road and Bayly Avenue.

Officers saw sparks coming from the front of the vehicle and asked the driver to stop, but she refused to do so. Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance and blocked it with other police cars.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving and charged. The car was seized and her licence suspended. She was later released on an undertaking.
