Scugog Council has voted to implement mandatory vaccination policy for employees, according to a statement released yesterday.
It did not say if there was any timeline for staff to get vaccinated.
At an October 25 council meeting under a notice of motion, members of Scugog Council voted to review the township’s vaccination policy. Following a thorough analysis and discussion including legal and labour implications, council has strengthened the mandatory policy, the statement said.
All Township of Scugog employees are required to be fully vaccinated, with the exception of those who provide proof of a medical exemption or valid and approved exemption under the Ontario Human Rights Code.
“I thank council and staff for their hard work and due diligence spent on researching, developing and strengthening our mandatory vaccination policy”, said Scugog Mayor Bobbie Drew. “I know this was developed with the health and safety of both our employees and our community in mind.”
Members of the public attending the municipal office for services are not required to show a proof of vaccination, the statement said.
Proof of vaccination by the public is required when visiting Scugog recreation facilities and other select establishments.
