It’s tied, isn’t it? Plus doing 212 at 1am on Highway 401

Almost every week, the police in Durham come across strange – and sometimes even bizarre – instances and explanations.

Take, for example, this driver who thought his load was securely tied. Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) North Division officers thought otherwise.

The driver was charged for insecure load, police said without providing further details.

“No person shall operate a vehicle carrying a load unless it’s secured, contained, or covered so nothing can fall, leak, spill, or blow from the vehicle. Secure your load — safety first,” they added.

Thought they’d get away with 212kmh at 1am on Highway 401

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division, said its arm at Whitby this week stopped a driver early morning at 1:01 am.

The motor vehicle was going 212kmh on Highway 401 westbound at Bennett Road in Clarington.

“A 21-year-old from Scarborough has been charged with Stunt Driving. They were also issued a 14-day vehicle impound and a 30-day driving licence suspension, the OPP said.
