Durham Heroes are not just everyday ordinary people you see around you, but also a human being’s best friend.
In the hands of their handlers, police service dogs (PSDs) are a loving, loyal and obedient companion, a criminal’s vicious enemy, and many a times, a lifesaver.
PSD Kaos of Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) K-9 Unit, is one such Durham Hero.
Recently, a woman in mental distress went missing in a rural area, intentionally hiding from those searching for her.
PC Elkington and K9 Kaos teamed up to track and locate the female in mental distress, said a DRPS alert.
After a detailed search of a rural farm area, Kaos safely located the involved female attempting to conceal herself under a blanket in a barn.
She was taken to hospital for assistance, police said.
No further details were released.
