Woman soldier charged with sexual assault

Ottawa: A member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) has been charged with sexual assault. The charge is in response to an incident which was reported to the Military Police Unit in Halifax, NS, and involves another military member.

Corporal Kendra L. Christmas, a Primary Reserve Force member with the Cape Breton Highlanders faces the following charges.

  • One (1) count of Sexual Assault contrary to section 271(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) pursuant to the National Defence Act (NDA).
  • One (1) count of drunkenness punishable under Section 97 of the NDA.

The matter is now proceeding through military justice system for possible court martial at a date and location to be determined

“This investigation resulting in charges demonstrates our commitment to ensure all individuals involved in such criminal activity are brought to justice,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Kevin Cadman, Commanding Officer, Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS).
