Knife-wielding gas station robber found at nearby home

A male is in custody after using a knife to rob a gas station in Oshawa.

On Thursday, March 21 at about 3:15 am, members of Central East Division, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, responded to a robbery call at the Esso Gas Station located at 20 Park Road South.

A male suspect entered the gas station and brandished a knife toward an employee. The suspect stole a case of lottery tickets and fled the area prior to police arrival. A K9 track led officers to a residence nearby, where police confirmed the suspect was inside. The male exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

The suspect, age 36 from Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
