Lane restrictions on Taunton Road from April 17

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Taunton Road, and closure on Cochrane Street in the Town of Whitby.

A notice said Taunton Road will have lane restrictions from today (April 17) to June 1.

The restrictions will apply on Taunton Road (Regional Road 4), from Coronation Road to 175 metres east of Coronation Road, in Whitby. Only the westbound curb lane is affected.

These are being implemented to allow for the construction of a new storm sewer and outfall.

Road closure on Cochrane Street

The Regional Municipality also advised residents of an upcoming road closure on Cochrane Street in the Town of Whitby.

  • When: April 25 until December 2023. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Cochrane Street, between White Ash Drive and Bonacord Avenue/Vernon Street, over the Canadian Pacific Railway in Whitby.
  • Why: To safely replace a bridge.
