Six new sex victims of Whitby restaurateur come forward

Durham Police yesterday said an additional six victims have come forward resulting in 13 additional historic sexual assault charges being laid against a Whitby restaurateur.

In January, members of Central West Criminal Investigation Bureau commenced an investigation into the owner of the restaurant located at Brock Street North in Whitby. A victim had come forward with allegations that the restaurateur had touched the victim inappropriately in the workplace. He was charged with Sexual Assault.

From January to March, four victims came forward with allegations of a sexual nature against the 55-year old, resulting in seven charges of Sexual Assault.

An additional six victims have since come forward with allegations of a sexual assault dating between 2002 to 2018. Some of the victims were part of various high school and college co-op programs that completed their program at restaurants where the suspect was employed in Durham. The charged often goes by the name ‘Chef Chad’ or ‘Chad’, said a police statement.

He was released on an undertaking.

Investigators want to ensure there are no further victims.
