Liberty Street Highway 401 ramps closed from July 11

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) long-term closure of Liberty Street east and westbound ramps on Highway 401 will begin from July 11.

The ramps in Clarington were to be closed starting June 27, but the closure was postponed without clarification.

The work plan, timing and schedule for this project and ramp closures are determined by the Ministry of Transportation. The Municipality of Clarington is sharing this important information with residents. We will issue updates when we receive them from the MTO, said a municipal statement.

The Ministry of Transportation – Ontario (MTO) is starting a long-term project rehabilitating several structures along Highway 401 between Bowmanville Avenue and Bennett Road. As a result, the Liberty Street eastbound and westbound ramps along Highway 401 will be closed starting on July 11, 2022, for the duration of this work.

All ramps will close at some point, but the work is done in stages to minimize disruption. The MTO will have signage posted to inform motorists of the closures.

Contact the Ministry of Transportation directly for any concerns or questions at Ministry of Transportation website, said the Clarington statement.
