Liquor, beer, wine stores stay open

The lines may be longer, and you may have to wait a while – sometimes outside in freezing weather – but alcohol will be available during the lockdown in Durham.

Durham Region Health Department has announced that the province-wide shutdown is not being applied to liquor, wine  and beer stores.

However, they have to meet certain conditions to be permitted to remain open.

“During the shutdown, stores that sell liquor, including beer and wine are permitted to open ensuring physical distancing is in place and cannot exceed 25% capacity,” said a Durham Health tweet.

In a notice of transparency, LCBO has announced that some staff members at stores in Pickering and Whitby have tested positive for Covid-19 during this month.
