Making the light fast… is how accidents happen

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday reminded drivers to be alert and cautious at signals, especially when the lights are changing.

“We get it, the traffic delays aren’t fun… but risking everyone’s safety to save a few minutes will not be tolerated,” said a tweet from them.

“‘Making the light’ is an excuse that won’t fly… this was a 60 zone, in the Town of Whitby during the morning rush,” it pointed out (see image above of speed radar reading 127 kmh).

“We are in this together. Please drive safe,” the tweet added.

Meanwhile, North Division officers on Goodwood Road and Stonesthrow Crescent in Uxbridge clocked the below car travelling at 90 kmh in the 60 kmh zone.

The investigative process revealed the driver/owner had no insurance. Several Part III summons were issued.

Members of DRPS Traffic Services, who are using the ALPR system to keep our roadways safe, were alerted of an expired permit on Wednesday, June 21.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to have no insurance either.

The 43-year old female was charged.
