A man has been arrested following a hold and secure (H&S) effected at two schools in Pickering yesterday, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).
“Maple Ridge Public School and Pine Ridge Secondary School in Pickering are currently in a hold and secure for an ongoing police investigation,” said the police on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday.
“Please remain out of the area. Further information to follow,” it added.
Durham District School Board (DDSB) confirmed the H&S. “Until further notice both Maple Ridge Public School and Pine Ridge Secondary School in Pickering are currently in a hold and secure,” it too tweeted.
A couple of hours later, in an update, DRPS said: “The hold and secures have been lifted. One male is in police custody.”
No further information was made available.
