Suspect held after student stabbing at Durham College

Durham Police yesterday said an 18-year-old male has been arrested after stabbing another student in Whitby.

On Monday, September 25 at about 4:20 pm, members of Central West Division responded to Durham College at 1610 Champlain Avenue, in Whitby for reports of an armed person.

The suspect and victim were engaged in an altercation when the suspect used an edged weapon and stabbed the victim in the arm. The school was placed in lockdown and cleared by police. The victim was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said a police statement.

A short time later, the suspect was arrested at his home and a Criminal Code search warrant was executed at the residence and the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect of Pickering was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
