Man charged for following female on foot and by car

Durham Police yesterday said a 64-year-old male is facing charges after he followed a female in his vehicle and on foot through a park in Ajax on Sunday.

On July 16 at about 4 pm, members of West Division attended the area of Lewin Crescent and Lake Driveway East in Ajax after a female called 911 to report a male was following her.

The female noticed the male following her on foot through Rotary Park and then hiding in the bushes. She then ran to a nearby residence for assistance. As she did, the male entered his vehicle and began to follow the female in his car. Witnesses in the area came to the aid of the female and stayed with her until police arrived, said a police statement.

Officers searched the area and were able to locate the male in his vehicle. Upon further investigation the male was placed under arrest, was charged, and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Anyone with new information is asked to contact the Durham Regional Police at 1-888-579-1520.
