Suspicious package deemed safe, says police

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday took about four hours to examine and determine that a package found in Oshawa was safe.

“Police are on scene at 33 King Street West in Oshawa for an ongoing suspicious package investigation,” said a police tweet. “Please expect delays in the area and consider using alternative routes. Further information to follow.”

Four hours later another tweet sounded the all-clear.

“Police have cleared the area and the suspicious package has been deemed safe. Thank you to the community for your patience,” said the tweet.

No further details were released.
