Durham Police said a 33-year-old Whitby male has been charged with possessing child pornography.
In October 2020, the DRPS – Internet Child Exploitation Unit were alerted to the upload of illegal images on the Snapchat application by the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC). An investigation led to the arrest of the Whitby man.
A number of electronic devices were seized from the accused and were forensically analyzed by investigators. As a result of this analysis, investigators believe that there remain a number of unidentified victims and they are seeking to identity them.
The suspect was active throughout 2020 over multiple online applications including Snapchat, TikTok, Omegle, Likee and KIK Messenger. Screen names used include: dirtyboy, dirtyboui, Daddy Dirty, Virus Redbeast and Rock Shan Rock (and variations of these screen names), said a police statement.
Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have had contact with the suspect online.
Karthik Manimaran is charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography and Distribution of Child Pornography.
