Man dead after car leaves road, rolls and crashes into tree

A 55-year-old resident of Newmarket has died as a result of a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Scugog Line 12, east of Marsh Hill Road in Scugog Township.

On Friday, June 17 at about 7:50 pm officers from the North Division were called to a serious single motor vehicle collision in Scugog. A 2007 black Honda sedan was travelling eastbound when it left the roadway on the north side, partially rolling over, striking a large tree, said a police statement.

First responders arrived within minutes. However the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, succumbed to his injuries at the collision scene.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
