Man wanted for buying phone for $1,000 in fake bills

Durham police yesterday said a male is wanted after using counterfeit currency to purchase electronics in Oshawa.

On Monday, July 13 at about 5:30 pm, a male attended the Cell Xpress located at 1000 Simcoe Street North and purchased a cell phone for $1,000 in cash. A short time later the currency was identified as counterfeit and the business contacted police.

The suspect, age 23 from Toronto is wanted for: Fraud Under $5000, Utter Counterfeit Currency, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000. Name and photo of the accused can be viewed at www.drps.ca.
