Dedicated off-leash dog trail being planned in Durham

You can now enjoy a new outdoors trail, off-leash with your four-legged companions in the Township of Uxbridge.

On September 15, council approved the addition of a new Off-Leash Optional Dog Trail at the Brookdale Tract, located at 717 Brookdale Road.

The new trail will provide a dedicated opportunity for people to explore the trail system with their dogs off leash, while continuing to welcome other visitors who wish to access and enjoy the property.

Before the trail can open to the public, several improvements will need to be completed to prepare the property for off-leash optional use. This work will include establishing a new trail connection, installing a parking lot, and adding appropriate fencing and signage.

More details about the opening will be shared as they become available, the township said.

Below is a proposed map of the new trail.
