Modifications are expensive… but so are fines, says police

Cars are a hobby for many – and like all hobbies – some enthusiasts are willing to go to great lengths and spend lots of money on their favs.

For some car lovers, it could mean souped-up engines, over-sized tires or modified mufflers that catch attention – and annoyance.

Unfortunately, they not only catch the attention of passers-by and residents, but also of the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers.

Late last week, DRPS North Division officers were out targeting street racing and modified vehicles.

“Window tint, loud exhaust systems and oversized tires are expensive to pay for, but so are traffic tickets – it’s your choice,” they said.
